My friends and lover, they do declare
This is the truth, this is what's fair
They hold tight to their loss of self
While I cling to my faith, my inner wealth
"Whatever suits you, dear," they say
And yet, I cannot help but sway
How can they bear to believe in such things
And not shatter like a bird with broken wings
I grieve for their reluctance to believe
To open up and let Love retrieve
What keeps them from seeing a God above
Who created and died for us in love
"It's their choice, their slice of pie"
They say, but I cannot help but sigh
Their slice will end with death's dark door
And they will be lost forevermore.
