BARKLEY AND FLUTTERS by Rolleen

Once upon a time in a beautiful garden filled with colorful flowers and tall trees, there lived a playful dog named Barkley and a delicate monarch butterfly named Flutters. Barkley was a loving and gentle dog, and Flutters was a curious and spirited butterfly. They were the best of friends, and their friendship was a truly special one, planned by God Himself. Barkley would spend his days running around the garden, sniffing the flowers and wagging his tail with joy. Flutters, on the other hand, would gracefully flutter from flower to flower, sipping sweet nectar and dancing in the breeze. One sunny morning, as Barkley was playing near a patch of bright orange milkweed, he noticed Flutters sitting on a flower, looking rather sad. Barkley approached Flutters and asked, "Why are you so sad, my dear friend?" Flutters sighed and replied, "I feel a little lonely, Barkley. All my butterfly friends have gone on their long journey to warmer lands, but I am not strong enough to join them." Barkley looked at Flutters with a warm smile and said, "Don't worry, Flutters. I will be your friend, and we will have so much fun together in this garden." From that day on, Barkley and Flutters became inseparable. They spent their days exploring the garden, playing hide and seek among the flowers, and telling each other stories under the shade of the trees. Barkley would even let Flutters rest on his soft fur when her tiny wings grew tired. As the days went by, their friendship grew stronger and deeper. They learned to understand and appreciate each other's differences, and they began to see how their friendship was truly unique and special. God watched over them, smiling at the beautiful bond He had helped create. One day, as the sun was setting and the sky was painted with the colors of the rainbow, Barkley and Flutters lay down in a soft bed of grass and looked up at the sky. Barkley turned to Flutters and asked, "Do you ever wonder why we became friends, Flutters? How a dog and a butterfly could become such good friends?" Flutters looked at Barkley and smiled. "I believe that God had a plan for us, Barkley. He knew that we needed each other and that our friendship would bring happiness and joy to both our lives." Barkley nodded, his heart filled with gratitude. "I think you're right, Flutters. God truly works in mysterious ways, and I'm so thankful that He brought us together." As the stars began to twinkle in the sky, Barkley and Flutters snuggled up together, feeling the warmth of their friendship and the love of God, who had brought them together in the beautiful garden. And so, Barkley the dog and Flutters the monarch butterfly remained the best of friends, their bond growing stronger with each passing day, a constant reminder of the love and beauty that God brings into our lives.
